Introducing Pegs to Paper: SEN Exercises for Handwriting – the ultimate resource for developing and evaluating the essential skills children need for speech, reading, and writing – featuring the unique ‘Grippy Peg’ for establishing an ergonomic handwriting grasp. This set has been designed to equip teachers with a range of hands-on exercises using the pegs and pegboards to help children aged 5 years + who struggle with handwriting. The support material is broken down into two sections: first section is a development on the exercises covered in the Early Years set, and the second ‘advance’ section aims to target specific skills such as shape, size and alignment, spacing and slant.

The set includes 2 x Giant Pegboards, 2 x wallets of Pegs to Paper Pens, 2 x sets of 5 Pots and 50 Pegs (in the first 5 Pegs to Paper colours), 2 x sets of 5 Pots and 50 Pegs (in the second 5 Pegs to Paper colours), 2 x Instructions and Work Cards Folders (including different series of exercises). These resources have been designed to be used with up to 2 children.

Extended Activities for Pen Control
Once all of the peg exercises have been completed, it is also good practice to extend the exercises onto the Link and Lace board. This threading board is ideal for strengthening the muscles in the fingers and the motion of placing the laces into the board helps with the coordination required for producing cursive script.
